Doug Harrison Trophy
From the Canterbury Newsletter dated June, 1970.
During April the Squadron lost one of its most faithful stalwarts in Doug Harrison. Doug was with the squadron right from its earliest days and has sailed in "R" Class dinghies as long, if not longer, than any other member. During this time he came to be a very respected member of the Squadron both on and off the water. He was always available to discuss a technical point of the rules or help anyone with a rigging or design problem. Many of his designs have aquitted themselves very well over the years and I am sure one of the highlights of Doug's life was that of being at Picton to see Relent come second at the 1970 Leander Trophy. His cheerful manner and friendly ear bashings will be missed by us all.
Doug will be remembered at future Leander Trophy Contests through this handsome trophy presented to the highest placed boat over ten (five prior to 2010) years old.
