The Wait
Wedneday dawned a fine, sunny, windless morning. Absolutely positively not Wellington. We all procrastinate, not wanting to go out, until the race is finally postponed and we can head for some shade and a cool drink. We don't reconvene until 2:30, giving us time to sample the sights, smells and noises of Wellington in the daylight. Race time rolls around, and a nice northerly has filled in. The sprint series is postponed until tomorrow and we have two back to back races scheduled for the afternoon.
Race 5
This is what we have all been waiting for. A solid 12-15 knot northerly and twins all the way. This should mix the results up a bit. And it did. Overnight leaders Design Source had a poor (by their standards) race at 10th. Dimension Polyant and Stagecoach finally hit their straps and moved up the leaderboard with a 2nd and 3rd respectively. Smit Miller showed they can sail the full range with a win. Overnight 2nd placers Meridian stayed in the hunt with a 5th and super consistant Chemical Weapon passed Liquid in the placings with a 4th.
Race 6
More of the same. Design Source showed they were no slugs in the breeze by leading the race, until they were put in the drink by the media boat. Hopefully they got a good photo of the leaders going down the mine in their wake! They recovered well to finish 4th. Smit Millar showed they wanted to make a contest out of it by taking the win, followed by Meridian Energy, Dimension Polyant, Design Source, Stagecoach with Subwoofer rounding out the top six.
Overnight results had Design source holding on to their lead, despite two wins by Smit Millar today, who were chasing them down in second and hoping for a blow tommorrow. The Canterbury trio of Meridian Energy Chemical Weapon and Liquid rounded out the top five.
