New Zealand R Class Squadron

2000 Annual Conference

Held at CYMBC Saturday 26 Feb at 8.00pm

Present: S. Macintosh (chair), S. Milner( Cant), T. Bartlett(Auck), S. Hogg (Wellington) and sundry other boat owners & crews. Greater than 2/3 of registered boat owners were in attendance.

Minutes: Previous minutes (1999 conference at Royal Port Nicholas Yacht Club) read and accepted. Milner/Hogg

Accounts: Account transactions and balance were presented and accepted.

Election: Steve Macintosh was confirmed as Secretary for a further year. The next conference will be in Auckland.

Boat Registration: The boat registration fee of $5 was confirmed for another year.

  • 2000 Canterbury 16 boats @ $5 $80
  • 2000 Wellington 4 boats @ $5 $20

Contest Venue: Auckland probably at Easter at the ASC

Remits

Three remits promoted by the Canterbury Squadron were passed unanimously as follows

R Class Rules

  • 5.1 Mainsails shall be able to be lowered on the water. The hoist must not be lashed, and where a shackle is used a shackle tool must be carried on board.

R Class Specifications

  • 9.6.2 Spinnakers shall be measured when stretched firmly and wrinkle free at each corner with edge cords released.
  • 9.6.3 The perimeter of the spinnaker shall be measured by taking the luff length, leach length and foot length and adding these lengths together
  • 9.6.4 The calculated perimeter shall not exceed 20 metres.
  • 9.6.5 delete

Leander Trophy Conditions

  • 7.4 The sails to be used during the contest must be nominated on the official measurement form or declaration.
