Commodores Comment 2000-2001 Season
Yet another Season bites the dust and what a season it was! 3 new boats on the water, Montana, Liquid and Subwoofer.
Tons of travelling with everyone enjoying themselves away.
The 2000-2001 season may be over but the enthusiasm level is still buzzing. Roll on the 2001-2002 season which will be another action packed bonanza. Trips lined up to Lake Aviemore (SI Champs), Nelson (Ruddiman), Akaroa (Dolphin Caf´ Pegasus Crest Sprints), Wellington (Leander Trophy) and Wanaka (fun fun fun!). The growth of the class is also looking good for next season. We need to keep being proactive in promoting ourselves as much as possible. This involves promotion days, the Boat Show, taking people out and as many boats sailing each weekend as possible ( ie. big fleets get the attention).
There are a lot of thank-yous I would like to make on behalf of the Canterbury Squadron. Firstly John Kuipers of Sydenham Bakery for sponsoring the South Island and Canterbury Championships, secondly Pacifica shipping for supporting us by transporting the boats to and from Auckland, thirdly to Anne Thorne from Robbies Lancaster for also assisting us in getting our boats to Auckland. Finally a huge thank-you to Paul Roe for his tireless efforts on the website.
Good luck to the newly elected squadron officers please support them.
Sean (Commodore ret. esq.)
