Dolphin Cafe Sprints 2000
Yep, its been a long time in comming but i've finally got off my lazy butt and decided to write something. A week or so before christmas saw the annual squadron to New Zealand's own French Riveria - Akaroa. The French flavoured village had turned on yet another picture perfect day for the boys (apart from a rather obvious lack of wind).
However, after a fantastic lunch at the Dolphin Cafe (mmm mmm good) the wind had come up enough for a spot of racing to be had. A fleet six boats had made the pilgrimage over the hill and no-one wanted to go away empty handed. Least of all Ashton on Buster Bloodvessel with stand in skipper Sean Milner. Victories were see-sawing between the 'Bus and new boat Liquid sailed by Dan Leech and Steve Fortune. A credible showing was also put in the the Gryphon boys Phil and Daniel with a second and a third. However, the skills of Ashton on the sharp end of the bus were to be the deciding factor in these light and flukey conditions, winning out in the end over the boys in Liquid in the end.
A fantasic day was had once again and a resounding vote of thanks to the Dolphin Cafe (mmm mmm good) is definitely required for their continued sponsorship of one of the events of the season.
see you next year guys!!
