The R Class Skiff National Championship
It has been 32 years since the first sprint series in Wellington. Sprints are run along the rock wall at the end of Godly Quay, but may be move to in front of the club if conditions along the rock wall are unsuitable.

Phoenix, designed by Graham Mander, and built by John McArthur in 1962 has been restored.
Naval Point Club Lyttelton hosted the 56th running of the R Class Skiff National Championship from 9-12th March 2006. Previous winners from Wellington and Auckland raced for the coveted Leander Trophy. Canterbury is the ancestral home of the R Class and the local fleet is keen to wrest the trophy from the Auckland Squadron.

A 300-400m short course set just off the rocks by the Coastguard building in Lyttelton, little margin for error, a large crowd and some of the most exciting sailing on the harbour. Tight racing and erratic wind gusts mean just about anything can happen and it certainly does. Don't miss it.
