Meridian Energy wins Canterbury Championships

Charteris Bay Yacht Club hosted the final 3 races of the 2005 Canterbury Championships.

Race 1 started off with a light southerly that turned NE by the second mark, the breeze built very slowly throughout the three races to 12-13kts by the end of race 3. The Charteris bay regatta was well attended with heaps of opti's P's Paper Tigers, Flying Fifteens, 3.7's, a massive Zephyr fleet, a few Starlings, Toppers and Lasers rounded out the field.

Racing was pretty tame with Nuplex (L3) , Sean Milner and Dan Leech, looking quick upwind and downwind. Unfortunately they had a few teething problems with the new boat, and managed to swamp the boat a few times, which hampered them, but came in a creditable 3rd overall, winning 2 races out of the 3 they sailed.
