Another perfect Akaroa day, with hot and sunny conditions, a moderate southerly sea breeze and closeup spectator action.
Once the breeze was in the course was decided: End of the main wharf for the pin end of the start/finish line and the start parallel to the end of the wharf. Club start flag as top mark and a small buoy near the main wharf was the bottom mark. The wharf being favoured meant no need for a distance marker, all nice and easy. Course was start -> flag -> buoy -> flag -> downwind finish (ie almost 2 laps).
The large contigent of spectators were treated to some close and exciting racing with boats manourvering within metres of the wharf.
Pegasus Crest overall results:
1. Nuplex Davie Norris - Sean Milner and Dan Leech
2. Meridian Energy - Dave Pairman and Tim Allan
3. Subwoofer - Paul Roe and Jess Hix
4. Bulley Hayes - Danny Folter and Paul MacGibbon
Thanks to Amy and Sutter for controlling the races.
Post racing Subwoofer and Nuplex Davie Norris swapped skippers. Great twinning conditions for a trial of the L3 hull, its always depressing going higher and faster than your own boat! In L3, Dan, seems to have eliminated some of the Woof hulls worst tendencies, reduced pitching effects and not introduced anything nasty, (at least in moderate conditions). It certainly was freer downhill with no tendency to stick the nose in and keeps going in the lulls uphill. Definitely a step from the Woofs and L2. More pictures
