Intergalactic Series Race 1 - Oct 19 2013

Six boats on the hard. New guys Jason and Hamish went out early for some practise. TheVirtual and More FM were next out and waited around the start line for the rest. Unfortunately for some reason the other 3 boats just sailed up the harbour rather than across to the start. Dave on Merde had an excuse as he was testing the new full hydraulic system and had a new crew on board.

MoreFM lead off the line, followed by TheVirtual, who managed to pick up weed in the first tack. Steve and Tony had a safe lead by the top mark. A spectacular launch on their second gybe allowed TheVirtual to recover from their bad first beat. Then, with Malcolm's tidy kite drop, gain the inside lane at the bottom mark. TheVirtual pulled away to have a healthy lead by the top mark. Tony and Steve, sailing deeper downwind, managed to close most of the gap by the finish for a close second.
