2015 Intergalactic Series Race 3 report

A balmy 15 knot NE blessed the 4 keen crews on the water this Saturday.

The nasty Merde shut out the upwind Weapon at the boat end of the line and foiled away on a semi-out-of-control upwind beat – but slick top mark rounding (been working on that – God knows they needed to). Classic Holder-Pairman muppetry at the gybe-drop bottom mark let the smoothly sailed Weapon close up to tussle distance; however Merde had a timely return of flight control, and thus speed, for the short dash to the line, with Jimmy and Matt charging over shortly thereafter. Massive Attack sailed a massive course, clearly enjoying the excellent and building conditions, to finish an agricultural, but heroic, mile behind the other runners. Unfortunately, the new owners of Rampant had to depart early for employer-enforced cricket world cup attendance, and thus missed the start – boring! Supreme post-race People’s Brewery beers rounded off a great days sailing.

James’ clever policy of sailing every race of the series with a new crew is clearly paying dividends; as he pulls away to now defendable points lead.
