Conditions Southerly gusting 24 knots, no rain, luckily.

Saturday the 5th saw the first good southerly of the season, with 4 boats steaming into the start line Meridian Energy, Liquid, Pork Sword and Montana Bakery. The start was a mess. The first beat saw Meridian going nicely with Montana on steady mix in second.

Round the top and bags up. Montana's whisking the egg whites nicely out in front with Meridian still checking power meters in second. The Liquid mermaid following in third, having a reluctant Jason Griffin crewing as the Gannet's away climbing Mount Everest.

Round the bottom and half way up the boys on the Liquid decide to start de-rigging early, P.S. Dan wait till you get on the land before you drop the mast. The Smith Bros racing team on the Pork Sword decide its a good time to get into some freestyle swimming practise.

As Graham Lowe would say "sensational", the Montana boys had been handed down some of grandmas old muffin recipes and they were baking good and hard out in front with Meridian having to follow the smell of Montana's fresh muffins and the boys in Pork Sword still trying to turn on the oven.

Last time round the top and a downwind finish with Montana showing the way for Meridian and the Pork Sword. And there it is Montana takes the Bullet with Meridian second and the Pork Sword with a OCS.

Well done to the Montana boys cooking the muffins to perfection with a well desevered win in testing conditions
