Carbon outer skin

Lay length of carbon on mould, cut to shape. Then wet out, work out bubbles and voids. Apply peelply.

Nuplex Industries Limited LogoSean and Dan would like to thank Nuplex Industries Limited for their sponsorship of their new hull by providing quality materials.

Outer skin is pretty simple, carbon cloth layed lengthwise along mould. Cut to shape. Mix epoxy resin and wet out the cloth with squeegies and spatulas. Taking care to avoid any excess as we're not going to vacuum the first layer. The working area is heated so the resin viscosity is lowered, which makes it much easier to wetout the cloth.
Dan ensuring the chines are void free
The cloth is wet out and Dan's just making sure the chines are following the mould contour, and there are no bubbles or voids.

Sean laying peelply
Sean applies peelply which takes up excess resin and removes the waxy surface from the cured epoxy.
