R Class on TV3 and Foils complete a race distance: TV3's David Di Somma and his crew filmed a short article on the hydrofoils which was shown during the Thursday 29th of January 3 News bulletin.
Foiling fun for all and a carbon cook up: Last Saturday, 14th March 2009, Lyttelton came up with a nice steady slowly building breeze. Conditions started at around 8kts and built to a nice 14kts over a couple of hours. Perfect to give a couple of us a try at the foils.
Merde boys on foiler and foil baking progess: Dave and Tim sail on the foiler and the first set of prepreg foils are nearly complete and the second set are well underway.
TheVirtual Flies - Launch day for the second foiling R Class: Sunday May 3rd 2009 dawned cool and clear. Forecast was good if a little light and the water is COLD.

what's an r class skiff?

Extreme performance, light weight, skiff style, development dinghy class in the truest sense (see the rules for details).

Length	3.9m (max)
Hull	no minimum weight (typically 29-35kg painted), 1.4m minimum width
Construction	Unrestricted (typically ultra lightweight Carbon/Foam)
Rig	Unrestricted - typically two spreader pre-bent carbon spar
Foils	Unrestricted
Working Sails	Area is restricted 13m² - construction and rig plan are unrestricted - ie. wings, pocket luff, rotating masts are all acceptable
Kite	20m circumference resulting in a 30-36m² surface area
Crew	2 (minimum) on trapeze
