Great conditions, great racing

Close summer racing in a pleasant 12-14kt NE.

After last weeks testing conditions with a few ring-in crews, the regular crews were all back on board. A good fleet of 6 R's enjoyed the more subdued 12-14kts with 2 closely contested races.

Nuplex, Sean Milner and Dan Leech, winning the first one convincingly with Meridian Energy Dave Pairman and Tim Allan second, Bulley Hayes, (Danny Folter and Paul MacGibbon) just edging out Subwoofer (Paul Roe and Jess Hix). International Rope Braid (Steve MacIntosh and Doug Gale) fought More FM (Rick Chapman and Grant Nelson) for the last two places. International Rope Braid shutting them out at the bottom pin and then beating them home to the finish, evidently, "despite attempts by Nellie to call for boat room when he was nowhere near us".

Nuplex broke their kicker in the first race which lead to a couple of swims in the second race and ultimately a DNF, leaving Meridian Energy to clean up with Bulley Hayes just holding out SubwooferMore FM who had an uncharacteristic swim on the final run headed off International Rope Braid.

Steve and Doug are teaming up for the Leander and have nearly got the bugs ironed out after the rig transplant onto the L2 hull. Their boom has finally arrived so hopefully Doug can get under the new one without uncleating the jib.
