Commodores Report 2004-2005

Treasurer and Commodore retiring, New hull mould construction report and Leander 2006.

Firstly a huge thank you to Sheryl for the outstanding work done in the role of secretary/ treasurer. Sheryl is stepping down at this AGM  after 2 consecutive terms in the role. I'm sure that everyone will agree that her contribution has been immense. Thanks Sheryl, you've set a high standard.

The year saw a very mixed season with heaps of cancelled race days owing to weather. The Leander was also a mixed bag, with a low turn out but high standard as any mistake was shown up in the placing of competitors. The contest is to be in our waters for this next season so all hands to the pump to make this a successful event. We have a huge opportunity again to promote ourselves by holding the sprint series on the Sunday of the Leander. As in the past for this we have had a large turnout of spectators and this time we should aim to better this in numbers and also concentrate on actually turning this interest into actual growth of the class down here. Any suggestions would be welcome on this.

Also looking forward to this next season Dan and I are in the process of building a new boat as you are aware and already the hull moulds are virtually complete with many careful hours put into the construction and fine finish of them so that any boats that will be produced will be fare once out of the moulds and not require heaps of bogging and fairing as in the past models! I am confident that we will create  a wide range of interest once the new boat is up and running, firstly with its performance and secondly with the website being used as a form of marketing ourselves to the rest of the world with this project.

I wish Dave all the best in the role of Commodore and hope everyone will help out when required. Don't wait to be asked, but be proactive!

Sean
