The Season so Far

Ruddiman Trophy Series

 

This year the annual Canterbury - Wellington competition was held in Nelson (again).

 

Did Canterbury retain the Teams trophy? Again? This is what really happened and here are the Results

Cyrus Williams Trophy Sprint Series


Come and see the short course action right in front of Christchurch Yacht Club. A must see. Will there be as much carnage as last year? Will any boats be destroyed? Racing will be at 3pm. Rescheduled from 31 October due to an absence of breeze.

Thrills, spills and spectacular racing in New Zealand's own French Riviera.

Leander Trophy National Championships / R- Class 50th Anniversary

 

The highlight of the season, this the 50th event will be held in Lyttelton, the birthplace of the R Class.

 

A huge event for R-Class sailors and enthusiasts both old and new.

This the final big event of the season will be held over two weekends at Charteris Bay and CYMBC.

What's an R Class Skiff?

Extreme performance, light weight, skiff style, development dinghy class in the truest sense(see the rules for details).

Length 3.9m (max)
Hull no minimum weight (typically 29-35kg painted), 1.4m minimum width
Construction Unrestricted (typically ultra lightweight Carbon/Foam)
Rig Unrestricted - typically two spreader pre-bent carbon spar
Working Sails Area is restricted 13m2 - construction and rig plan are unrestricted - ie. wings, pocket luff, rotating masts are all acceptable
Kite 20m circumference resulting in a 30-36m2 surface area
Crew 2 (minimum) on trapeze
